International Show 1-4 Aug  2013

COMPETITOR INFORMATION.

AS we all know 2012 is Olympic year. Great news for Team GB, but a real problem for many other shows throughout the world. Unfortunately this includes Dressage at Hickstead

Try as we may, we cannot find a suitable date for the International, at least not a date that would be attractive for foreign riders to be able to attend.

SO! After much deliberation we have decided to postpone the CDI until 2013.

1st to 4th Aug 2013 are the likely dates, these are to be confirmed.

However we still have a comprehensive list of events for 2012

As well as a very busy show season of Affiliated and unaffiliated shows, including the British Para Olympic final trials 18/19 June, The Team London Riding schools championship 11th July we will also run the premier league 18-20 July and finish on Saturday 21 July with the British young horse championships and an Invitational Grand Prix to music and make the day a Gala event.

To complete the day we are intending to run an Olympic Celebration Ball - Saturday 21st July  In our time honoured tradition, this will of course be an amazing event to herald the start of ' London Olympics 2012.’

For more International information go to SHOWS on top bar.  2011 is the third year of the Exquis World Dressage Masters and the second year Craig Rawlins and the Dutch bring their influence to bear on the show.  After the success of 2010 we all look forward to 2011 and welcoming everyone to Hickstead again.  See below for a review of 2010

Totilas non appearance made up by the superb performance by Parcival

The 2010 revamped show was a great success from the helicopter landing and positioned by the entrance to the great dressage.   Dane Rawlins idea for the show to rival European Shows has certainly been achieved and his brother Craig’s Dutch based events company helped with the organization and the influence was obvious.

Parties happened each evening by the Champagne Bar, Dog agility and Disco Thursday, Disco Friday and Live Band on Saturday with free entry, all making dressage fun and accessible to all. This innovation alone is a big step forwards for GB Internationals.

Meanwhile  over in the International arena the dressage goes from strength to strength  T here were mumblings from some of  the  many spectators on  Saturday, with Sunday  a sell-out as well , were feeling upset having bought tickets on the promise of seeing world number one Moorlands Totilas in action with Edward Gal.  Unfortunitly Totilas didn't cross the channel but it is feasible that horses selected for the World Equestrian Games might change their schedule.

World number two Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival made up for their absence.  Lest we forget, Parzival has beaten Totilas on more than one occasion, including at the European championships last year. If it weren't for Totilas, the greater public would be totally  enamored with Parzival. Many actually prefer Parzival's way of going, and the chestnut powerhouse passaged his heart out - proving that he deserves to fill a grandstand just as much as his Dutch teammate.

On the British front, Laura Bechtolsheimer proved she has  a wonderful partnership with Andretti and Carl competently proved he had rekindled his partnership with Liebling II with a plus-70% grand prix in the CDI 5*, while Maria Eilberg's Two Sox made up for bombing down the centerline at Aachen by pulling off a faultless test.  Richard Davison won the CDI 3* Grand Prix and Special.  Daniel Sheriff with Bayford Hall Dallaglio made it through to the CDI 5* on the horses  second International Large outing.  The question being asked at the show would it be  Laura Bechtolsheimer, Carl Hester, Maria Eilberg, Emile Faurie, Fiona Bigwood - who would make the final four for the World Equestrian Games?
